New Aston Martin special edition pays homage to Chassis Number 3

Aston Martin has introduced a spin-off of its Vantage model stylized to resemble the only surviving example of a vintage car named the Chassis Number 3, or A3 for short. Only three units will be built in total.

The Aston Martin A3 celebrates its 100th birthday this year, and the exclusive Vantage conversion should set the mood for the party. The original car had a rather exquisite appearance even by the standards of its era, and came powered by a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine rated at 11 horsepower (8 kilowatts). Despite the seemingly worthless powertrain, the ride actually set multiple acceleration records at the time of launch, and even managed to reach a then-unthinkable top speed of 136 km/h (84.5 miles per hour).

The Vantage stylization boasts an A3-like radiator grille, retro-themed badges, imitation-leather belts that held the hood cover in place on the original car, and uniquely sculpted front fenders. The wheels allow a peek past the spokes at bronze calipers, and some of the interior accents are also bronze.

Prices remain secret.
