Having introduced the new Vantage for the public roads, Aston Martin has also unveiled its track-only GT3 counterpart. It has already premiered at the 24 Hours of the Daytona, and is cleared for participation in the new LMGT3 racing series. Here are some official photos and videos, as well as technical details.
You may have already seen the Vantage racer running shoulder-to-shoulder with its road-going cousin and the AMR24 Formula racer at the Silverstone Circuit. New images reveal it from pretty much every angle, highlighting that the car is a successor to the recently retired Vantage GT3 and Vantage GTE.
Compared to the “civilian” coupe, the track tool wears a much more sophisticated aerodynamic kit. It also benefits from racing-grade suspension and has a roll cage in the cabin.
According to the FIA regulations, GT3 cars must have the same engine block as their street-legal counterparts, but with an output dialed down to 500-600 horsepower depending on the category. This one is no exception: its output can be tuned, but cannot match the 665 PS (656 hp / 489 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque of the road-worthy Vantage. On the upside, it weighs between 1,200 and 1,300 kilos (2,645–2,866 lbs).
A total of 30 such racecars will hit the tarmac in this season. All prices are pending.
