Fiat E-Ducato revealed, launch scheduled for later this year

A year ago, Fiat Professional refreshed the Ducato van and simultaneously teased its purely electric version, E-Ducato, which now debuts with specs and details.

The early prototype version of the van was designed with two battery sizes in mind: 47 and 79 kWh. According to the manufacturer, the former would be enough for approximately 220 km (137 miles) of range and the latter for 360 km (224 miles). The final production car revealed today has unspecified battery sizes and somewhat lower ranges: 200 km (124 miles) for the low spec and 330 km (205 miles) for the high spec.

The Fiat E-Ducato comes equipped with a single electric motor mounted on the front axle and rated at 122 hp (91 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque. Depending on the configuration, it can take in between 10 and 17 cubic meters (353 – 600 cubic feet) of cargo weighing up to 1,950 kilograms (4,300 lbs). The top speed is clamped at 100 km/h (62 mph).

The van will soon proceed to its road testing phase and should ultimately reach the market later this year. The Citroen Relay Electric and Peugeot Boxer Electric, two concept vans demonstrated at the Birmingham Auto Show last spring, should also be close to launch due to sharing their principal platform and tech with the E-Ducato.
