Audi schedules new EVs for Shanghai, Frankfurt shows

Audi has announced forthcoming premieres of two all-electric concept cars. One of these will debut at the 2019 Auto Shanghai show in April, while the other one will be exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

According to Marc Lichte, Head of Design at Audi AG, the first debutant is a pure design study meant to show us just how Audi sees its future cars. As such, it will come equipped with an SAE Level 4 self-drive system and sport a 100% original interior layout with a slide-out steering wheel.

The Frankfurt concept car remains a bit of a dark horse at the moment, but Lichte says that both vehicles “arrive 10-15 years ahead of their time”, so neither is likely to make it into production anytime soon.

The all-electric Audi Q4 e-tron exhibited at the Geneva show was the company’s latest premiere. The car awaits mass production in late 2020.
