Audi concept Shanghai previews a three-row battery SUV

Audi has teamed up with its partners – SAIC and FAW – to unveil a range of new cars at the Shanghai show. We have already reported on the A6 e-tron Concept and the A7L sedan, so let us now focus on an all-electric seven-seater SUV prototype named “concept Shanghai”.

The vehicle looks not unlike the recently debuted Q4 e-tron (watch the video for a comparison), but is 282 mm longer at 4,870 mm. Chinese media seem confident that both models come based on the MEB architecture and have essentially the same tech. The standard Audi e-tron has a slightly longer body at 4,901 mm, while the Volkswagen ID.6 X comes closest with 4,876 mm.

The production car – which should emerge from the SAIC factory in the second half of the year – will reportedly ship in two single-motor/RWD configurations and one dual-motor/AWD one. While not official, sources claim these will include 35 e-tron (170 HP / 125 kW, 310 Nm), 40 e-tron (204 PS / 150 kW, 310 Nm), and 50 e-tron quattro (299 HP / 223 kW, 460 Nm).

Batteries should come in standard sizes of 52, 77 and 83 kilowatt-hours. The largest one should translate into 560 kilometers of WLTP-rated driving range.
