Audi Grandsphere Concept previews a luxury GT slated for launch in 2025

Audi showed us the Skysphere Concept last month, kicking off a trio of design studies. The next one – named the Grandsphere – debuts today, and the Urbansphere will follow next year.

The car revealed today is a grand tourer with Rolls-Royce-style doors and no B-pillar. It comes based on the PPE platform and packs plenty of technological advancements, including an SAE Level 4 self-driving system. The driver can let the car go fully autonomous and do something else, but return to driving at any time: the steering wheel and the pedals are still present, just hidden from view until you push the button.

The powertrain comprises two electric motors mounted one per axle. The resulting AWD configuration produces 721 PS (711 hp / 530 kW) and 960 Nm (708 lb-ft) of torque. The GT needs around four seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and offers 750 kilometers (466 miles) of driving range. Importantly, you can replenish the charge from 5 to 80 percent within mere 25 minutes.

The concept car will evolve into a production EV by the year 2025. Stay tuned for its IAA Mobility reveal, where Audi could supply more details.
