New Audi Q6 bows as the German marque’s largest vehicle in China

Rumors used to claim that Audi would call this large SUV the Q9, but the company has just registered the trademark “Q6” in China, proving them false.

The three-row giant was co-designed with SAIC and is 5,099 mm long, 2,014 mm wide and 1,784 mm tall. According to its specs now available in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), it is based on the same MQB platform as the Volkswagen Atlas/Teramont/Teragon.

An official premiere is expected during the 2022 Auto China show in Beijing in April, but in the meantime, we already know from the patent filings that the seven-seater uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine for propulsion. The transmission is automatic, and all four wheels are driven.

The car comes in multiple modifications, including 40 TFSI (231 PS / 228 hp / 170 kW) and 45 TFSI (265 PS / 261 hp / 195 kW). Neither sounds particularly exciting given the curb weight of the SUV (2,205 kilograms / 4,861 pounds), but the manufacturer claims it can still hit a top speed of 207 km/h (128 mph).
