Audi’s VR goggles is a $750 subscription-only accessory

A startup firm named Holoride has launched the sales of a virtual reality headset (VR goggles) designed to work with Audi cars. The feature set looks rather odd within the context of the price.

Specifically, customers in the United States are expected to pay a one-time fee of $750 and get the headset along with a year of free subscription. Every following month will cost them $19.9, although a year subscription will be available as a $179.8 option.

What do you get for your money? Two puzzles, two games, a web browser, four educational programs and the ability to mirror your phone display into your VR headset. Holoride says the device will sync your experiences with the acceleration and deceleration of the car, but neglects to mention the details.

It remains to be seen just how popular the goggles will be among Audi owners. As it stands, the current feature set looks rather small for the price, although new features might be added in the future.
