Audi has a number of striking design studies in its portfolio, the Skysphere being one of them, and a carpenter from Vietnam has just recreated it in wooden form. He published a video detailing the whole process on his YouTube channel, ND – Woodworking Art.
Like many of the artisan’s other works, the prototype is full of functional units and is actually drivable thanks to an electric motor and a steering wheel.
Judging by the abundance of curves and intricate outlines, the bodywork could not have been easy to reproduce. The carpenter approached every panel individually, taking care to perfect its shape before proceeding to the next one. He even made sure the headlights and taillights were indistinguishable from the original Skysphere.
The whole work took two and a half months, but the video manages to compress it in just above 13 minutes.
