Audi brings its virtual vehicle into reality

As we have told you before, Audi has contributed a virtual e-tron Vision Gran Turismo sports vehicle to the Gran Turismo Sport video game series. The same car has recently celebrated its real-world debut by running a test lap at the manufacturer’s racetrack in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany.

The exterior design of the new Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo bears a strong resemblance to that of the 1989 Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO. As for the performance, it comes equipped with three electric engines together capable of 816 hp (608 kW). The car needs a trifling 2.5 seconds to bolt to 100 km/h from a standstill, despite weighing 1.5 metric tons (~3,300 lbs.)

The shiny new Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo will enjoy its first public appearance at this year’s F1 Championship stage in Rome, Italy. The car will act as a ‘racing taxi’, which means it will be available for everyone to board and experience at full speed.
