Audi has held an official presentation in Shenzhen, China dedicated to its top-of-the-line coupe/crossover model, the Audi Q8.
The new coupe-SUV is almost five meters (16+ ft.) long, two meters (6 ft.) wide and has a three-meter (10 ft.) wheelbase. Depending on whether the rear seats are folded, its trunk volume can vary between 605 and 1,755 liters (21.3 – 62 cu. ft.). The only available seat layout is 2+3, and there are no plans for a larger, 7-seat version.
The Q8 coupe-SUV takes advantage of the MLB modular architecture and features a ~15% aluminum, ~15% high-tensile steel body. It comes all-wheel-driven with fully steerable chassis and center/inter-axle differential. Adaptive air suspension is optionally available.
The car will only ship with a selection of hybrid drivetrains incorporating 3.0-liter gasoline and diesel engines rated between 286 and 340 hp (213 – 253 kW). All gasoline models will get an eight-speed automatic transmission, whereas the diesel ones will come equipped with a seven-speed DCT.
The interior of the Q8 coupe/crossover hybrid will feature a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, a 10-inch center console touchscreen display, and a climate control unit with its own 8.6-inch display. The vehicle will ship with an infotainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, an advanced audio system, an all-around view camera system, and adaptive cruise control. A year after the initial market release, the car will be enabled to take advantage of the Audi Remote Garage Pilot feature.
Pricing remains the only major point not touched upon by the manufacturer during the premiere.
