Audi talks about the e-tron drivetrain

German car manufacturer Audi has revealed what kind of drivetrain its new, all-electric SUV named e-tron will ship with.

Apparently, the Audi e-tron gets two electric motors together capable of 360 hp (268 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb·ft) of torque. The car will accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in under six seconds and ultimately reach 200 km/h (125 mph).

The power output can be temporarily boosted to 408 hp (304 kW). To do this, the driver needs to switch the gear shifter to S and floor the accelerator pedal. The 8-second boost is possible owing to an innovative power regeneration solution the manufacturer had previously tested on the Pikes Peak track.

The Audi e-tron regenerates lost energy in three cases: when using the paddle shifter, when coasting and motor-braking, and when braking normally. All in all, the system can recuperate up to 70% of all power that is otherwise wasted – and sometimes even more.

The environment-friendly SUV debuts on September 17, 2018.

In earlier news, Audi disclosed the battery capacity of the upcoming car (95 kWh), its aerodynamic drag coefficient (0.28 Cx), and showed us its interior with as many as five displays.
