Visitors to this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will be able to see the new all-electric concept supercar from Audi, called the PB18 e-tron. Its unique appearance has been conceptualized in the new Audi design studio in Malibu.
Even though the vehicle is a pure design study and won’t make it into series, car professionals recommend that we take a good, long look at it. After all, a number of its features will eventually be implemented in other Audi EVs.
The PB18 e-tron is 4,530 mm (14.86 ft.) long, 2,000 mm (6.56 ft.) wide and 1,150 mm (3.77 ft.) tall with a 2,700 mm (8.86 ft.) wheelbase. It stands on a specially-designed 22-inch wheel set with asymmetrical spoke arrangement which helps its carbon-ceramic brakes cool faster.
The dashboard, the steering wheel and the driver’s seat represent a single unit (monocoque) that can be freely moved on the lateral axis. What this means is that you can move it closer to the center or one of the sides of the car.
According to Audi, the PB18 e-tron feels equally at home on the race course and on public roads.
The concept car commands three electric motors with 680 hp (507 kW) total output which can be boosted to 775 hp (578 kW) for a short period of time, enabling it to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than two seconds.
Reportedly, the car has a driving range of 500 km (310 mi) and only needs 15 minutes to refill its batteries at a sufficiently powerful charging station.
