Audi unveils final design of its next-gen A1 hatchback

Following a series of teasers, Audi has finally revealed a number of photos showing its A1 hatchback in its production-ready shape without the camouflage cladding.

The upcoming Audi A1 update switches to the new MQB architecture and chassis. Production plans only include five-door cars, there will be no three-door variants this time around. Another important thing to note is that the assembly will take place in Spain instead of Belgium.

The shots reveal two modifications of the A1, 35 TSI and 40 TSI. Both come equipped with the S-Line sport package. There is no detailed engine information available yet, but industry experts expect the hatchback series to ship with a choice between two gasoline turbo engines. One of these is going to be a 1.0-liter, 116hp / 87kW strong three-cylinder engine, and the other a superior, 150hp / 112kW strong V4.

A performance variant of the A1, titled the S1, will be added to the family later, featuring AWD and a potent engine manufacturer-rated at 250hp / 186kW.

The interior of the upcoming hatchback can be either grey/black or yellow/black, with leather-draped seats and a medium-sized, touch-sensitive infotainment display on the center console. Right above that is a climate control unit with rotating mechanical knobs. The dashboard, on the contrary, is completely digital and also doubles as a navigation screen.

The vehicle will premiere at the Paris International Motor Show in October 2018.
