After a series of spy photos posted online, Audi has decided to announce the premiere date of its fourth-generation A3: March 3, 2020.
The current A3 debuted at the Geneva IMS 2012 and was the first vehicle ever to take advantage of the MQB platform later used by countless other Volkswagen Group models. The new generation is actually a bit overdue at this point, because all technical siblings of the A3 – the Skoda Octavia, the Volkswagen Golf and the Seat Leon – have already premiered.
Based on the pics available so far, the new iteration of the estate/wagon will not bring much novelty in terms of design. The tech is a different story: the manufacturer will likely be offering us multiple hybrid powertrains to choose from. Inside, the dashboard will become digital and the infotainment screen larger. The usual DSG lever will likely yield its place to a smaller, joystick-shaped hear shifter.
The estate/wagon version will be the first to arrive in the showrooms, followed by the sedan/saloon and ultimately the S3 and RS 3. The three-door hatchback variant was dropped from the lineup some time ago.
