The four-door version of the Audi A3 boasts a slightly longer body and more trunk space compared to its hatchback-shaped counterpart.
Specifically, the new sedan is 15 centimeters (6 inches) longer than the A3 Sportback and has 425 liters (15 cubic feet) of trunk space instead of 380 l (13.42 cubic feet).
The car will mainly ship with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to manual gearbox and capable of 150 hp (112 kW). Opt for dual-clutch, and you will benefit from the addition of the 48V electric starter. There will also be a diesel version with the same displacement volume, power rating, and DCT box.
Later on, Audi plans to launch an entry-level diesel spec with 116 hp (87 kW) at its disposal, as well as a similar gasoline spec with 110 hp (82 kW). The latter will also be available with the DCT box and 48V starter, making it a mild hybrid.
Even later than that, full-fledged plug-in hybrids will reach the market alongside AWD versions, the sported-up S3, and the range-topping RS 3. The latter two will be rated at 310 hp (231 kW) and 400 hp (298 kW), respectively.
Pre-order books will open in late April, and sales in Europe should begin in summer. The most affordable three-cylinder turbo spec will cost €27,700, and the cheapest four-cylinder turbo will set you back €29,800.
