New Audi A4 wagon spied testing in the Alps

The next generation of the Audi A4 is already on the way, and someone has spotted an A4 estate tested in the Austrian Alps in an impervious camo wrap.

Some details can still be discerned. It looks like the next A4 gets a different front bumper with revised air vents and slimmer headlights. It also appears to ride lower, suggesting changes to suspension.

The new A4 will utilize an updated version of the current platform, which implies that the engines – both diesel and gasoline – will remain the same. The manual transmission will most likely no longer be available, though, leaving buyers to choose between DCT and eight-speed auto.

Finally, there will be an all-electric A4 e-tron built on a completely different architecture called the PPE. The ICE lineup should debut later this year, with the EV set to follow later.
