Both the Audi A5 and S5 have received a minor makeover for model year 2020. Let us see what is new and noteworthy.
Exterior changes include the front grille and both bumpers, and the headlights are now LED-based in all trims. Matrix LED headlights and taillights with integrated dynamic turn blinkers are available optionally. Customers may choose from 11 colors and 3 trims: Advanced, Standard, and S Line.
Inside, there is a new multimedia system with a 10.1-inch touch-enabled display replacing the selector knob, a revised interface, and a WLAN hotspot.
The engine range remains unchanged (163 – 245 hp; 122 – 183 kW), however, the entire series has made a switch to mild-hybrid powertrains based on starter-generators. Transmissions include 7-speed DSG and 8-speed auto, and the drive can be either FWD or AWD.
The ‘fully loaded’ European version of the Audi S5 ships with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel rated at 347 hp (259 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in five seconds flat. Outside of Europe, the S5 gets a gasoline engine rated at 350 hp (261 kW) and sprints 0.3 s faster.
A special series called the Edition One will be the first to reach the market. You may preorder it with a 190-hp (142-kW) or better engine. The series comes with the preinstalled S line trim package, which includes black exterior accents, sports suspension and three exclusive paint choices. Sales will begin in the fall.
