The four models of Audi’s new A5 lineup come to replace the old A4 range in Europe, offering four powertrain choices and prices from €45,200. The first deliveries are scheduled for November.
The new lineup includes the A5 & S5 Sedan models (that are actually liftbacks despite the name), the A5 Avant, and the S5 Avant. All four are running on a platform known as the PPC.
At the bottom of the range likes a 2.0-liter petrol turbo four-pot obtainable in two boost variants – 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). Both come bundled with a dual-clutch transmission, but while the former is strictly FWD, the latter can be optioned with AWD.
The other two powertrain options are hybrid. The electric motor is small and can only briefly contribute 24 PS (24 hp / 18 kW) to the output. The manufacturer argues that it’s still enough to maneuver around a parking lot in all-electric mode.
In the hybrid department, your first option is a 2.0-liter diesel rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The S5 lineup gets a sportier alternative in the shape of a 3.0-liter petrol V6 capable of 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW). This mill works in tandem with a dual-clutch transmission, a sports-grade differential and four driven wheels.
Torque vectoring is implemented across the entire range. Audi mentions updated steering and optional adaptive suspension.
