Battery-powered Audi A6 Avant e-tron shows up ahead of premiere

Audi has tweeted a handful of images showing its upcoming Audi A6 Avant e-tron wagon set to debut tomorrow, March 17.

Like its technically close liftback cousin that debuted a while ago, it is still technically a concept, but production is only a matter of time. The teasers show a vehicle that looks identical to the liftback in all parts where it can get away with it. It also sports a rather sporty roofline at the rear end, an impressive spoiler and a prominent rear diffuser as well.

The prototype has video cameras instead of mirrors, large wheels and slim LED taillights. We suspect that the taillights might actually be made from OLED elements supporting various animations.

All technical parameters stay unannounced. The liftback concept unveiled nearly a year ago (see video) takes advantage of a new platform called PPE and uses a dual-motor setup for a total of 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. A 100-kWh traction battery grants it up to 700 km (435 miles) of range.
