The long-wheelbase 2023 Audi A6 sedan has debuted in China with moderate exterior and interior changes and a new PHEV powertrain.
The four-door car looks nearly identical to its predecessor (see video), with the differences boiling down to individual body kit pieces. Customers can now choose from a wider range of exterior finishes and wheel designs, but that’s about it.
Aside from revised trim materials and small décor, the interior stays the same, too. The rear bench comes with a slightly larger ‘pillow’, and the infotainment system on board supports 5G.
Those who would like to save money can still go for the old 2.0-liter engine rated at 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW). The same engine is available in a higher boost version capable of 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW), a healthy performance gain compared to its former 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW). Both make use of a 12V electric starter.
If this still seems too little, you can get a V6 turbo assisted by a 48V starter-generator, netting you 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW). This engine was also available from the start. However, buyers in China may now opt for a plug-in hybrid powertrain that has been available in Europe for three years now: a turbo four-cylinder teamed up with an electric motor and a 14.1-kWh battery. The system outputs 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and runs up to 54 km (33.6 miles) on electric power alone.
Prices start from 427,900 Yuan for the entry-level spec and rise to 656,800 Yuan in the top spec. The Audi A6 for Europe should receive a similar update soon.
