It has been a while since we learned about the long-wheelbase Audi A7 L being developed for the Chinese market, but the one thing we certainly did not expect is that the liftback would turn into a sedan.
The test mule spotted today sports badges that testify to its AWD system and 3.0-liter V6 rated at 340 hp (254 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque. Then again, this is likely not the only spec that will be available. Production should begin in 2021 and the sales a year after that.
What remains a mystery is just why Audi would want a sedan model in China. The automaker already has the A6 L on sale there, which is 5,038 mm long with 3,024 mm between the axles. The A7 L will likely be similarly sized and come as a replacement for the regular A7 shown on the video here. Then again, it might replace the A6 L or even go on sale alongside the two.
