According to Audi Head of Design, the new generation of the company’s A8 sedan will be heavily inspired by the Grandsphere Concept (see the gallery and the video). It will also run exclusively on electric power.
Speaking in a recent interview, Marc Lichte admitted that there would be some design alterations and corrections to make the Grandsphere production-friendly, but they would not be essential.
The new design iteration of the A8 will utilize the PPE architecture currently co-designed between Audi and Porsche. All the details remain to be revealed.
When it debuted, the Grandsphere had 3.2 meters (125 inches) of wheelbase, two motors joining efforts for 710 PS (700 hp / 522 kW), 750 km (466 miles) of battery range and a 4-second launch time.
