Audi vows to discontinue IC engines in five years

Many automakers voice intentions to wrap up internal combustion engine production by early 2030s, but Audi sets a stricter limit here: 2026, not a year more.

Audi CEO Markus Duesmann said that the last Audi car to come out with an IC engine would stay on the market for around seven years, or roughly until 2033. He never specified which model it would be.

The company seems to be paying plenty of attention to releasing a mysterious new car provisionally known as the Artemis. It should debut in three years sporting a bold design and become Volkswagen’s flagship EV in terms of power output, driving autonomy and battery range. As for the closest premieres, the new Q5 E-Tron and A6 E-Tron should come out next year.
