Audi has begun taking orders for the all-electric e-tron GT in the United States, which should take a fair share of attention away from the similarly specced R8.
The newcomer has Porsche J1 underpinnings, making it a direct relative of the Taycan EV, but the two target distinctly different audiences. While the Taycan is a no-holds-barred sports car with superb acceleration and handling, the e-tron GT offers a reasonable balance between sportiness and luxury, appealing to track day enthusiasts and high-profile customers alike.
The base spec has 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW), but can be briefly boosted to 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW). It needs 4.1 seconds for its 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) sprint and maxes out at 245 km/h (152 mph). Prices in North America begin at $99,900.
The RS trim version commands 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW) and can exert up to 646 PS (637 hp / 475 kW) during launch. It zaps 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reaches its artificial speed limit at 250 km/h (155 mph). Prices start from $139,900.
Both share the same traction battery model rated at 93 kilowatt-hours. EPA-rated driving range depends on the specific modification and varies between 373 and 383 kilometers (232 – 238 miles).
