Audi has officially teamed up with VR solution researcher Holoride to equip its A, Q and e-tron vehicle series with advanced virtual reality features later this year.
The cars will come with optional VR goggles for rear bench passengers, which will connect to the on-board electronics via a wireless link to let them play a kind of a racing game while riding in the car. The device will be able to read the entire dynamics of the car – its current speed, acceleration and braking, turns and lane changes – and use this data to steer the car in virtual reality, creating a full immersion effect.
The new feature will debut on Audi cars in Japan, China, USA and Europe in June this year.
