Audi ushers in the Q8 E-Tron, its new flagship SUV

“Audi Q8 E-Tron” is the name the German manufacturer will be using for its “normal” e-tron SUV after its update. Sales in Europe are set to begin in February 2023 starting from €74,400, with the U.S. launch scheduled to follow in spring.

Compared to the old generation, the new one has improved its drag ratio by 0.01 Cx to 0.27. The coupe-like Sportback model is even better off in this department with a drag ratio of 0.24 (down from 0.26).

Customers can choose from three powertrains. The Q8 50 e-tron and e-tron Sportback both come equipped with dual electric motors joining their efforts for 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and 664 Nm (475 lb-ft) of torque. An 89-kWh traction battery gives the SUV 491 km (305 miles) of driving range. As an aerodynamically superior model, the Sportback gets 505 km (314 miles) out of the same battery pack.

The second option is called 55 e-tron and promises 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW). The range amounts to 582 km (361 miles) for the SUV and 600 km (373 miles) for the Sportback.

Rounding off the lineup is the range-topping SQ8 e-tron and e-tron Sportback duo powered by three electric motors at once. The wheels get hit with 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW) and 973 Nm (718 lb-ft) of torque. The manufacturer-rated range amounts to 494 km (307 miles) for the SUV and 513 km (318 miles) for the Sportback. Both sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds.

The interior is dominated by multiple high-definition displays including a digital dash screen, a multimedia display and an HVAC control panel. Paying a premium gets you a heads-up display as well.
