Audi previews the 2022 e-tron Sportback facelift in disguise

Audi has shared the photos of a refreshed e-tron Sportback SUV being tested in Sweden in cold weather (-20ºC / -4ºF). Judging by the cladding, both ends will be redesigned, and rumors claimed earlier that the update would endow the Sportback with more driving range.

Visible changes include a different radiator grille (possibly a solid one), reshaped bumpers at both ends, and revised lighting all around. Interior trim, wheels and body colors may also be updated, but this is not official. The current generation runs around 400 km (248 miles) on a charge, and we heard tell that Audi was working on expanding the range to 600 km (373 miles) or so.

Car spotters used to see e-tron Sportback test mules on public roads before, but the latest bunch of photos comes from Audi proving grounds spanning 3,600 hectares of land, various test tracks with different surfaces, office buildings, and a hotel for employees. Engineering teams are using these grounds to calibrate chasses and optimize software to ensure proper functioning even in extreme conditions.
