German automotive giant Audi has officially debuted its second-generation Q3 crossover vehicle. Both the exterior and the passenger space have been redesigned from scratch.
At 4,485 mm (14.7 ft.) long, 1,856 mm (6.1 ft.) wide, and 1,585 mm (5.2 ft.) tall, the car is slightly longer and broader than its predecessor, while being marginally less tall. Its wheelbase amounts to 2,680 mm (8.8 ft.), which is 77 mm or 3 inches more than the predecessor model had.
The added dimensions reportedly make the car much more comfortable to sit in, especially for the backseat passengers.
The next generation is based on the MQB modular platform also utilized by a number of VW, Skoda and Seat vehicles.
The engine palette comprises three gasoline engines and a single diesel one. The latter commands two liters of displacement room and produces up to 150 hp (112 kW). The other three are a 1.5L with 150 hp (112 kW), a 2.0L rated at 190 hp (142 kW) and another 2.0L capable of up to 230 hp (172 kW). All two-liter engines work in conjunction with semi-automatic transmission and either the front drive of the AWD.
Base equipment of the 2019 Audi Q3 includes rear seats that can be moved forward or backwards within a 15 cm (6”) range and otherwise adjusted in seven different aspects. The vehicle also gets an advanced 10.25” or 12.3” (optional) all-digital instrument panel, an 8.8” or 10.1” (optional) car multimedia, a number of USB ports, a 680W sound system consisting of 15 speakers, and a remote trunk access feature. The trunk compartment itself is 675 liters large with the back seats in their forward position, and 1,525 liters large with the seats folded.
Other base features include automatic parking, all-around view camera set, adaptive cruise control, adjustable suspension, and LED lighting.
The first Audi Q3 series to reach the market will come equipped with 20” wheels, sport suspension, an S-line body kit, a black radiator grille, and matrix LED headlights.
Sales in Europe begin in the coming November.
