The Audi Q5 family has a new member now: a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) called the Q5 55 TFSI e quattro. The car has around 40 kilometers (25 miles) of all-electric range and spends as little as 2.4 liters of fuel per 100 km traveled (118 MPG in Great Britain; 98 MPG in the USA).
The powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter turbo V4 engine capable of 252 hp (188 kW) and an electric motor built into the seven-speed DSG transmission, contributing 105 hp (78 kW) of its own. The resulting nominal output amounts to 367 hp (274 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb×ft) of torque, reachable at 1,250+ RPM.
The vehicle takes 5.3 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 329 km/h (204 mph).
By default, the Audi Q5 55 TFSI e quattro ships with LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, sports seats, and a three-zone climate control.
You can toggle powertrain modes straight from the driver’s seat. The Hybrid mode results in maximum fuel efficiency; the EV mode means all-electric operation; the Battery Hold mode only uses the fuel while maintaining the battery charge at its current level.
Charging the traction battery takes six hours using a regular wall socket and 2.5 hours via a high-voltage station.
The Audi Q5 55 TFSI e Quattro will go on sale in the third quarter of 2019 priced from €60,450.
