Daniel Abt, owner of ABT Sportsline, has announced a customization plan for the hybrid-powered Audi Q5 TFSI E SUV. For the first time on record, the tuner offers to boost the electrified vehicle to 425 horsepower (313 kW).
In its factory guise, the 5 TFSI e quattro packs a turbo-four gasoline mill rated at 252 hp (185 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque, as well as a potent electric motor. Their combined output is manufacturer-rated at 367 hp (270 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft).
ABT tweaks the ECU to raise these numbers to 425 hp (313 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft), respectively. We’d expect the SUV to launch noticeably faster than before, but no official figures exist to support this.
The Audi Q5 is the first part-electric vehicle in the ABT portfolio to enjoy a retail power kit. The tuner did show us the magnificent ABT RS6-e 1000 Concept some time ago, which it managed to push all the way to 1,000 hp (745 kW), but that one regrettably never made it past the concept stage due to its excessively complicated and expensive mods.
