Audi debuts the Q5 L SUV in China

Audi Q5 L, a new crossover/SUV with a roomy interior, just debuted at the Beijing Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2018). The car has been designed for the Chinese market and should hit the market sometime this summer.

Some early spy photos showing the elongated utility vehicle had been posted online before the official reveal, so its appearance didn’t surprise many brand fans. The rear part of the Chinese Audi Q5 L is 90 mm (3.5”) longer than that of its predecessor model, granting passengers at the rear seat row some much-needed leg room. Actually, Audi applied the same modification to some of its other China-only releases, such as the A4 L, the A6 L, and the A8 L.

The car will be made available in five specifications: Sport, Sport plus, Design, Lifestyle, and Vogue. The base trim level comes with 3-zone automatic climate control, an infotainment system and a smartphone interface. There is also an all-digital dashboard, a premium-grade sound system, navigation software and certain other features.

The all-wheel-driven car comes equipped with a two-liter turbocharged engine capable of either 190 or 252 hp (142 or 188 kW), depending on the specification you choose. It works in tandem with a seven-speed S tronic gearbox. The stronger of the two can accelerate the new Audi Q5 L 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.7 seconds.

Audi will produce the car in the FAW-VW works in China.
