The all-electric Audi Q6 e-tron that debuted in March (see video) will soon get its first rear-wheel-drive variant. Misleadingly called “Performance”, this new version of the crossover is both less powerful and slower than the dual-motor one, but it has more range and costs less. The shipments will begin in Q3 2024, but you can already leave a preorder.
A rear-mounted electric motor drives the wheels with 326 PS (322 hp / 240 kW), letting the Q6 e-tron Performance sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.6 seconds. For a bit of perspective, the weakest AWD option commands 388 PS (383 hp / 285 kW) and concludes its sprint in 5.9 seconds.
Just like the rest of the lineup, the car utilizes a 100-kWh battery pack. Reduced energy consumption means that the range goes up from 625 to 641 km (from 388 to 398 miles). Plugging it into a charging outlet for 10 minutes restores enough charge for another 260 km (161 miles). The AWD variants support the same charging current, but get 5 km (3 miles) less over the same period.
Prices in Europe begin at €68,000, which means that ditching the front motor saves you around €6,000. The first deliveries are scheduled for August.
