The Audi Q8 coupe/SUV already has a ‘warmed-up’, diesel V8-based trim version called the SQ8, but it should pale in comparison to the ‘hot’ RS Q8 spotted at the Nürburgring earlier today.
Judging by the engine sound, the range-topping Q8 will come powered by gasoline, rather than diesel. In all likelihood, this means a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 mill rated close to 600 hp (450 kW). The SQ8 needs 4.8 seconds to get from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph), but you can bet on the RS Q8 improving upon this time.
Rumors insist that the flagship Q8 might ship with the same 680-hp (507-kW) hybrid powertrain as the technically similar Porsche Cayenne.
The premiere will most likely occur later this year.
