Slovenian exhaust designer Akrapovič has introduced a purpose-built exhaust system for the Audi’s flagship SUV, the RS Q8. The muffler, the two valves, the piping and the finisher tips are all made of titanium alloy, and the latter come adorned with carbon fiber.
The system boasts a rather unusual sound profile: there is the company’s trademark low-pitched growl dominant through all RPMs, but a high-pitched scream joins it at full throttle that one might associate with high-revving racecars.
Aside from the original design and sound profile, the new silencer should be quite practical, because it raises the engine power output by up to 9.4 horsepower (7 kilowatts) and the torque by up to 17.2 Newton-meters (12.7 pound-feet).
The Akrapovič Evolution Line Titanium also weighs 43 percent less than the original part and requires no ECU adjustment after installation. Prices are pending.
