The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has officially rated the electric driving range of the new Audi Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron. For its own part, InsideEVs compared the new data with the pre-facelift Q8 lineup and found that some modifications of the car now have around 30% more juice in them.
The reason is simple: larger battery capacity. In Europe, there is a version of this model called Q8 e-tron 55 with two e-motors and a giant 114-kWh traction battery. In the USA, this version had not been available until the facelift.
Outfitted with 20-inch wheels, it covers 459 km (285 miles) on a charge, 95 km (59 miles) more than the pre-facelift version with only 95 kWh at its disposal.
The Q8 Sportback e-tron with the same battery size can now cover 476 km (295 miles) on a charge, up 114 km (71 miles) from before. In percentage terms, it is a massive 32% improvement over the old version. Opt for a package called Ultra and install smaller 19-inch wheels, and you will be able to get 483 km (300 miles).
In Europe, these EVs also have a more affordable modification with the numeric index 50. It comes with a smaller battery and is not available in the USA. Audi did announce a tri-motor ‘SQ8’ model for North America a while ago, but EPA hasn’t tested it yet.
