Audi quattro gets reimagined as a €1M, 805-HP battery supercar

Bavarian carmaker E-Legend has announced a forthcoming all-electric supercar named EL1, inspired by the iconic Audi quattro (watch the video to refresh what it looks like).

E-Legend is a company founded in Beilngries, Germany by Markus Holzinger, son of one of the designers of the original Audi quattro. He plans to produce 30 EL1 units in total, including 12 in 2023 and the rest a year later. Prices will begin from €1.06 million in Germany, including taxes, or from €890,000 for exporters.

The car presented this week sports a lightweight carbon-fiber monocoque that helps it weigh in at just 1,680 kg (3,703 lbs). Triple electric motors mounted one front and two rear join their efforts for 816 PS (805 hp / 600 kW). Launching 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes 2.8 seconds, and reaching 200 km/h (124 mph) is possible within ten more seconds or less. The top speed is going to be limited at 255 km/h (158 mph).

A liquid-cooled, fast-charging 90-kWh battery will yield around 400 kilometers (248 miles) of WLTP-rated range. When maxing out on power, it will still deliver enough juice for two full Nordscheife runs (42 km / 26.1 miles total). It supports a maximum charging power of 150 kW, and while the company stays silent about the original vendor of all the tech, Porsche is among prime suspects.

Features include video cameras instead of side mirrors, adjustable suspension, and trunks at both ends. The interior design pictured in our gallery here is not final and eligible for revisions prior to launch. AC and power windows are included in the base spec.

Holzinger says he intends to revive other iconic sports and rally cars later on. Another model named EL2 will draw inspiration from the Lancia Stratos, while an EL3 that might come later may be based on the Lancia 037, the Delta S4, the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, or the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16.
