German company E-Legend has reported finishing another stage of the project it announced a few years ago: its all-electric take on the legendary Audi Sport Quattro, set to be released in 30 units priced from €890,000 (nearly $1,000,000), hit the test track for the first time.
The development team has revised the exterior a little since the announcement, slotting a NACA-style glass piece into the roof and changing the powertrain layout. The EL1 – which is what the car is called – had originally been envisioned with two rear motors and a single front motor. The company has since decided that just two motors installed one per axle would be enough, with the power staying the same at 816 PS (805 hp / 600 kW).
The EL1 is expected to be able to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, reach 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.5 seconds and ultimately hit 300 km/h (186 mph).
At 4.15 meters (162 inches) long with 2.45 meters (95.7 inches) of wheelbase, the car is fairly compact. A special carbon-fiber chassis enables it to tip the scales around 1.8 metric tons (4,000 lbs) – pretty much the same as any comparable ICE supercar.
The traction battery stores 80 kilowatt-hours and is rated for ‘two full Nürburgring laps in pedal-to-the-metal mode’, per E-Legend.
The production remains scheduled for next year. It is worth pointing out that in 2021, the company evaluated the car at €1,060,000, but later managed to redesign it to cost a little less while retaining all the original specifications.
