Tuners have helped this twin-turbocharged Audi R8 claim the world record by zapping through a quarter-mile strip in seven and a half seconds.
You may have already heard about Underground Racing, a German tuner shop known for its unhinged bi-turbo Lamborghini builds. For its own part, the R8 received the X Vision power kit, heavy-duty transmission and AWD system reinforcements, and a new external ECU meant to teach it to use racing-grade fuel efficiently. With everything installed and properly adjusted, the wheels were hit with around 3,000 metric horsepower (2,200 kilowatts) – more than most modern hypercars boast, even the electric ones.
The record-breaking run starts with the Audi R8 popping a wheelie, but then proceeding to regain its balance and zap towards the finish line, covering 402 meters in mere 7.695 seconds. Its speed at the finish line amounted to 316.7 km/h, or around 196.8 mph.
