According to an unofficial source, production of the famous atmospheric engine-driven Audi R8 supercar will stop before 2020 with its latest (3rd-generation) never making it to the mass market.
Rumors abound that Audi Sport is no longer working on the R8 E-Tron facelift or the Scorpion supercar prototype. By the way, the latter was going be equipped with a unique V8 engine essentially assembled from four 1.2-liter Ducati bike motors.
Not all is gloom and doom for the fans of the renowned German brand, however. It has been recently announced that both the new Audi RS5 Coupe and the RS4 Avant get an excellent 2.9L twin-turbo V6 with 470 horsepower. Their hybrid counterparts are also in the works.
