Electric cars have a track record of walking all over their ICE cousins in straight-line racing, and the Tesla Model S Plaid is the king of them all with dozens of trophies on its metaphorical wall. Still, the owner of an Audi R8 V10 Plus felt like he could snatch the victory from the battery sedan with enough engine tuning.
The R8 shown in the video uses a custom twin-turbo’d version of its 5.2-liter V10 and slams all four wheels with 1,723 PS (1,700 hp / 1,267 kW) through a dual-clutch transmission. This dwarfs even the Plaid with its 1,033 PS (1,019 hp / 760 kW) and AWD. Consider also that the Plaid weighs nearly half a ton (1,000 lbs) heavier than the Audi.
On the other hand, the Tesla benefits from instant torque, something an ICE car will never have. But will it be enough to outpace this R8? Watch and find out!
