Copart, a website specializing in the sales of damaged and ruined vehicles, is offering a good-looking 2021 Audi R8 for as little as $51,000. Don’t let the appearances fool you: Hurricane Ian that ravaged Florida not long ago destroyed the poor coupe from the inside.
As a result, the R8 is a complete write-off, only good for salvaging parts and sending the rest under the scrap press. The salty water it was submerged in ate away at its engine and electronics, leaving them in a state far beyond any reasonable repair.
Having said that, the bodywork looks largely intact and could probably be used to repair other R8 models. Carscoops supposes that wheel rims and brakes might also be serviceable – but that’s not a given.
