The Tesla Model S Plaid only lost a few quarter-mile races out of the hundreds it participated in. With an Audi R8 tuned to 1,400 hp lined up against it, however, it may have a hard time catching up.
The video comes from DragTimes on YouTube and features a heavily modified R8 slamming the dyno with 1,300 horsepower (950+ kilowatts) at the wheels. The owner reckons that the output at the crank should be at close to 1,400 hp (1,030 kW), and we concur.
In turn, the Model S Plaid churns out 1,020 hp (761 kW) and has tremendous amounts of instant torque. On the upside, the Audi is approximately 454 kilos (1,000 pounds) lighter.
As expected, the Tesla Model S Plaid gets a crazy fast start and leaves the R8 behind from the get-go. But does it manage to maintain its lead and for how long? Check out the video, it’s worth seeing with your own eyes.
