The Audi approached the start line with its usual 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine boosted from 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) to 537 PS (530 hp / 395 kW).
The Mercedes hot hatch had an initial advantage with its eight cylinders, four liters of displacement and 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) of power at the crank. However, applying a Stage 2 upgrade only resulted in around 506 PS (500 hp / 373 kW). In other words, the outsider Audi has pulled ahead of its rival here.
