German tuner slashes Audi RS 3 launch time to 3.2 seconds

The Audi RS 3 depicted here may look stock and even tame, but provoking it on the highway could be a bad idea: after an extensive tune-up, the sleeper outpaces some supercars out there.

Responsible for the job is MTM, a German tuning company with many an Audi RS in its portfolio. This one was allowed to keep its 2.5-liter five-cylinder block under the hood, but the ECUs for both the engine and the transmission were overhauled and a performance intake was installed. After the modifications, the engine started to pump out 662 PS (653 hp / 487 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

This proved enough to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.2 seconds, double that speed in 9.44 seconds and ultimately reach an electronically capped 300 km/h (186 mph). Helping keep things in check are a carbon-fiber splitter at the front, a diffuser at the back, MTM Bimoto 20-inch forged wheels and KW suspension for optimal handling at high speeds. A loud custom exhaust system rounds things off.

All good things come with their shortcomings, and this one is no exception. The materials alone will cost €27,070 in Germany, and actually installing and tuning everything will add €8,896 to that amount.
