ABT Sportsline has been tracing its history all the way back to the year 1896, when Johann Baptiste Abt founded a coachbuilding atelier. To celebrate turning 130 years old, the German tuning company will be releasing just 30 examples of a particularly angry Audi RS 3.
The first time we saw the ABT RS 630 was three months ago (see the video above), but we still lacked details about the project back then. As it now turns out, the tuner starts with a regular, customer-sourced third-generation example of the Audi RS 3.
For starters, the engine gets boosted from its regular 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) to 630 PS (621 hp / 463 kW). The torque simultaneously goes from 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) to 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). This is accomplished via a new turbo setup and a water/ethanol injection system for the intake.
A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission handles the momentum as it goes to all four wheels. ABT doesn’t provide any acceleration times, but the stock hot hatch reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, so it shouldn’t be a problem. It can even hit 300 km/h (186 mph) in a straight line.
On the outside, the anniversary-themed ABT RS 630 boasts a carbon-fiber aero kit, quad exhaust tips of a larger-than-standard diameter, and 20-inch High Performance HR20 wheels shod in track-ready tires. The suspension also gets tuned for fast-paced driving, but the car remains street-legal.
Interior changes boil down to assorted badges and logos, as well as minor trim details, like a new start/stop button.
Upgrading your existing RS 3 to this spec will cost you at least €58,000 in Germany. The hatchback itself starts from €66,800.
