Remember the times when 200 horsepower was enough to call your hatchback a “hot hatch”? Well, those times are not around anymore. With the advance of technology anyone can power up their ride to stellar performance levels.
This is what an owner of an Audi RS3 Sportback decided to do. He was dissatisfied with the standard performance of his car, so he took it to HGP Turbo.
The engineers have managed to enhance the power output of the stock 2.5-liter engine to 597 hp (445 kW) and 710 Nm (524 lb·ft) of torque. Once the upgrade was complete, the Audi RS3 Sportback became capable of accelerating 0-100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds.
The engineer team of HGP Turbo had quite a large scope of work in front of them. They had to install a new turbocharger and a supercharger, to change the air filter and the injection system, to rework the exhaust line and re-flash the engine control firmware. At a certain moment the stock transmission could no longer operate efficiently in conjunction with the engine, so it had to be upgraded as well.
To guarantee the best possible stability and road grip, HGP Turbo recommends additionally purchasing a set of custom rims clad in special tires for your modded Audi RS3 Sportback.
The upgrade cost the car owner U.S. $18,000.
