ABT Sportsline has announced an upgrade for the Audi RS5 Sportback. Called the RS5-R, it will emerge in a series of just 50 units in the USA. Later on, the company will make the same number of upgrades available in Europe.
The hot hatch gains a somewhat understated yet stylish body kit consisting of a new front spoiler lip with canards down both sides, a new radiator grille frame, side panel extensions, a neat rear spoiler and a prominent diffusor harboring quad tailpipes.
ABT Sportsline also offers to boost the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine of the car from its stock 444 hp (331 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lbft) of torque to 503 hp (375 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lbft) of torque. It doesn’t specify how much faster the RS5 Sportback sprints with the upgrade installed. The production car concludes the standard sprint in 3.9s.
Further technical improvements include new adjustable springs and sports-grade stabilizers (both front and rear), which should facilitate making sharp turns at high speeds.
Interior novelty boils down to numerous tuner logos, a carbon-fiber gear selector, and a plaque that says “1 of 50” to tell everyone that this is a limited edition.
