A recent video on the Net showed a Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye unexpectedly humiliated on the drag strip by a non-tuned BMW M5 CS. Despite this premonition, ABT Sportsline’s Daniel Abt still decided to race his RS6 Avant against the mighty Bavarian sedan. It did not go that well.
For those who haven’t been following, Abt’s take on the car is called the RS6-R, and it persuades the stock 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to churn out 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW) to all four wheels. In turn, the M5 CS makes do with ‘only’ 636 PS (627 hp / 468 kW) and AWD. Compared on paper, the Audi has a clear advantage.
In the races that followed, the RS6-R was off to a much more successful start, but the M5 suddenly began to close the gap on the 800-meter (roughly half-mile) long strip until pulling ahead at the last moment. Abt claimed his revenge later, but it was not as decisive or satisfactory as it could be. Watch the video, you won’t regret it!
