Video: 1,200-PS Audi RS 6 Avant is every bit as fast as it sounds

Popular Audi blogger Auditography has released some test footage of a C7-gen Audi RS 6 Avant believed to be the world’s most powerful RS 6 wagon. We cannot vouch for the title, but with 1,200 PS (1,184 hp / 883 kW) and 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, it has to be close.

The tuning was performed in four stages and involved swapping out most drivetrain components in favor of better ones. Simply calibrating the main software resulted in 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) reaching the wheels. Another 80 horses (60 kW) were unlocked thanks to new wastegates and exhaust manifold. Replacing the throttle body housing and introducing a water/methanol injection system lifted the output to 825 PS (814 hp / 607 kW). The final stage brought in such heavy artillery as multiple separate high- and low-pressure fuel pumps, a particularly powerful intercooler pump and a special ethanol sensor for on-the-go optimization of fuel combustion.

As the video testifies, the insane estate car snaps off the start line and reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in blistering 2.57 seconds. It then proceeds to double that acceleration in 4.67 seconds. The quarter-mile strip yields in less than 10 seconds, and the top speed – brace for it – exceeds 350 km/h (217 mph). Crazy, isn’t it?
